Colorful ‘paper flowers’
Recently, while driving to a local supermarket, I passed a cluster of colors that begged to be captured in a photo. The contrast of fuchsia buds, deep green leaves, cotton candy clouds, and baby blue sky seemed painted in place. These “paper flowers” are actually the leaves of the Bougainvillea glabra, a climbing vine native to Brazil. According to Wikipedia.org, the... Read More
Offline, and into a hole
I’m going offline, and into a hole (literally) for the next few days. Think sleeping on the ground, and carrying the food and water that keep you alive. There will be a video camera; expect a story, and footage. See you back on top, eventually. Using social media is like living in a small town
If you use social media then you know what it’s like to live in a small town. Granted, you may not have a physical street address, or that one blinking traffic light to slow you down. The population may be in the millions, the thousands, or—if you live in a small, small town—one hundred or less. You have your favorite places, and you know how to find them. You... Read More
Movember–the growth stops here
Hello, December. Good bye, Movember. The month “formerly known as November” has come to an end, and with it a celebratory shave seemed appropriate. It’s been over a year (June 2008) since I last wore facial hair above the lip. Moreover, due to an agreement with my wife, I never foresaw a mustache making a comeback on this face. Then, it happened. Movember found... Read More
Movember–Famous and Infamous Mos
Face furniture. The lip tickler. The soup strainer. The ’stache. Lip spinach. The cookie duster. Upper lip plumage. The misplaced eyebrow. Face fungus. Mo. The mustache. Some are considered famous; others infamous. So popular are the ’stache styles of today and yesteryear that many have been named to idolize, or institutionalize the men that wore/wear them. Included... Read More
Movember – the growth continues
Nine days into “Movember”, and the growth continues. To be honest, I had my doubts until yesterday when this “mo” looked (for the first time to me) like it could be a full-fledged mustache by the end of the month. The term “mo” is slang for “moustache” in Australia; hence, mustaches in November make it the month of Movember. More than a dare, or... Read More
Movember – the growth starts here
Think of it as a month with a mustache. Thirty days of growth. One-twelfth of a year with facial hair. Movember. More than a moniker intended for humor, the handle represents the collective efforts of “Mo Bros” unified in the fight against cancer for the month of November. Men (and women) can join the cause in two ways: 1. grow a mustache to raise awareness, and/or... Read More

It took 14 hours, two bags of corn nuts, and a 900-plus mile road trip to arrive at this moment: the end of day one of this year’s ”Catalyst Conference” Experience. Technically considered the pre-portion of the conference, today’s schedule of events included four “labs” and a bloggers meetup to conclude the day’s festivities at a nearby... Read More
