Five Days to Seven Years, pt. 5

The day we continued…

The cake has been eaten, and the presents unwrapped; the guests have all gone home. The wedding is over, and the tuxedos returned; the marriage has “officially” begun.

Now what?

Welcome to the best-of-the-rest days of your (wedded) life.

The future will be what you, and your spouse, choose to make of it.

Understand, the statistics are stacked against you. The latest online figures report that half of all marriages in America today end in divorce.

It seems that more people get married on purpose, than stay married on purpose.

Make no mistake. Marriage is hard. Marriage is a process. Marriage is also a reward.

And anyone who’s ever told you, “We’ve never had a rough day, or a fight,” may be lying (or no longer married to the same person).

But marriage is not the absence of conflict, heartache, or occasional hurt feelings; instead it’s a commitment to love someone—not because you’re forced to—but because your fortunate to. Remember, they chose you, too.

Seven years seems easy now compared to the day we began. And here’s to seven more.
